Ray,
Sorry mate, I didn't forget you asked about pics of Warners Bay main street. The day that we finally went to buy the chair (officeworks is right at the top of Hillsborough Rd) was a miserable rainy day and I asked his nibs to drive me down to get some pics for you. Well, he wouldn't let me get out of the car (in case of my slipping) so he took these pics. Not sure what you will make of them, but he stood across the road on the waterfront side of the road and here's the pics that you asked for, so long ago.
Enjoy them xxx

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deborah the butcher was in the older shopping complex and Coles took over what was a smaller grocery shop, that is what put an end to the local guy. There is another private butcher just set up in the new area and apparently he is good with good meat, Got a beef pie to test him out and it was beautiful chunky tender meat that melted in thy gob so will try the steak next time. Pie was $20 and well worth it as it would all be gone for t tomorrow night. Well I went to the local special needs dentist, First I asked if he was qualified in this area of dentistry and when did he have the special courses? I think he was taken a back but as I told him I have been shafted once before with my tongue diagnosis and I am making sure that didn't happen again. He said he understood me questioning him and we got on with business so to speak. He was Chinese, young and spoke good English so happy there, He wasn't as gentle as the girls in town but I told him to be a tad lighter in his scraping. His assistant was useless with the suction and I had to stop him to swallow. Anyway he did what he had to and I was pleased. Appointment for 1 year bothers me though ?? If any issues I call them and if they can't do whats needed they will send me back to town. OK with me. Got home and got straight into the garden , little chainsaw, hedge trimmer and big loppers (all battery) Still more to do but I did a bit more than I wanted to do but tomorrow is another day. G did new perches for the birds so they will be happy over Easter. He sees AJ tomorrow for his leg. Shirley there seems to be a resurgence in the use of those glass locks, hope he did a good job and you are happy with the end result. Notice how T1 doesn't answer Q's??? Terry how is Margaret???
Hope all the sickies are improving. Goodnight everyone x

Dot, our house was built 27years ago, we have 3 panels of acrylic bricks, 2 at the front of the house & a bigger one in our lounge room, they were all damaged in a severe hail storm, we are having them replaced with glass bricks, apparently acrylic bricks are no longer available, the fellow & his son are here today fortunately no rain, although overcast, the panels will be finished tomorrow or Saturday, feeling very happy with the progress today.

Shirley & Bruce.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, I am agreeing with you mate. I hate supermarket meat. It's only good for slow cooking in the crockpot. Glad that you may have found a good substitute butcher. $20 for a meat pie that will feed you for 2 meals is a great way to go. xxxx
Had a day planned for domestic things. Only managed to do a few of the chores when the phone did it's thing. It was the kiln man from yesterdays conversation. He was in the area and if possible would like to visit today. Not only did he come when he said he would, but he had the right part in his truck and was able to replace the broken relay on the spot. He looked seriously at the kiln, he hasn't seen this one here before. His comment was that he hates to see kilns with the elements in the lid. The bricks slowly send down crap onto the glass below, while the element is getting hot, and once it gets fired into a piece, it is all hell of a job to get it out without destroying the piece. I do try to vacuum it before firing, but it does have some things that still drop under high heat. He wants to try to put up a shield that will catch the crap before it can do any damage. I have left it with him to do up a quote of the cheapest possible way to fix this problem. He is a busy man, so I don't expect to hear from him in a hurry. He didn't have a relay that would work in my older kiln. but will let me know when he gets one. That kiln doesn't need a relay yet, just trying to be a bit careful and replace it before it carks it.
Tonight the newer kiln is firing away, with a piece that has been waiting since November to be finished. Looks like we are back to finishing off a few bigger projects that have been waiting for a while before I can get out the new stuff.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
We found that most country towns didn't have a butcher because most properties in the area butchered their own meat .... so that left the everything store and taking pot luck on what would be close to chewable.dream4red wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 12:30 am Dot, all the good butchers are out in the country towns, nowhere near coles. Our private health fund will give us back some returns, but we have to wait for that to happen. I have to fill in the forms and print out copies of the receipts etc and beg the health fund, because this could have been considered cosmetic surgery (honestly, they will try that line first) Good luck with the next dentist. My Eye man has a surname that is so weird that he is just Dr Jerry and I was pleasantly surprised to find that he is an Aussie through and through (just looks very Asian, but born here) xxxx
Today was cold, threatening to rain, but only light showers and then tonight, it's flamin cold.
After clearing out a lot of old stuff from the filing cabinet earlier in the week, today was the shredding day. Such joy to see 3 very well packed garbage bags of shredded paper for the worm farm. They will love getting a warm topcoat on their beds and the best thing is that when we are away and the veggie peels dry up, they eat their bedding. Very ecologically minded are we!![]()

Patrol needs new tyres, so that's for tomorrow and then inspection for rego on Thursday. Bank balance is about to head South..oops.

Lamb is close to being affordable now, but the quality is crap for the price per kg, a T bone that was actually cut properly just isn't the sort of thing you find in a supermarket, so that leaves pork and kangaroo .... that one was a strange find, you would think roo meat was the last thing that would be sold in a country town ..... but rabbit is near impossible to find anywhere these days ....

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Last night I fell asleep and missed goodnight
T1 I didn't know that Margaret was still in hosp after you mentioned she may be in for a Few days and what was the final diagnosis of her foot woes that she has had for years?? Q and request please, would you put your Winnie works on your Winnie post, , gets a bit awkward trying to follow on many threads
x
I also spent nearly all day in bed after the out doors work on Tues so after today's effort I might be out of action tomorrow..
Bernie I will try the new butchers window display see what that brings and if not happy I will go to the "please cut my meat to request". My mum used to go to our local butcher at Beechworth and just sign lingo to the nice man for her steak of 1'' thick rump, he knew exactly what she wanted and it was always good meat.
Shirley I hope your new glass blocks turned out as you expected, I like them for a change.
Get cracking Deborah, Xmas soon
RnB good news for the no appointments for a while. Mine start again next week
Tanks How is Doone going these days with her Chemo and Radiation? Knocks the crap out of you.
Jd how did your ENT go as well as the golf of course?
Hope all the sickies are improving
Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight David and Terrie xx

Dot==Doone is in hospital again and has been there for several weeks now.
Her Palative Care Doc sent her back to the hospital for I/V pain medication and I/V antibiotics.
Doone would prefer to be at home on palliative care with the nurse calling to her place every day.
While in the hospital she dislocated her (R) hip when they were helping her to the toilet and shower.
Her kidneys have packed it in and there is excess fluid collecting in her right arm and her right leg.
The limbs are such that she can't lift either her arm or her leg and has to have a nurse to attend to her.
The cancer has affected both her shoulders, several vertebrae, her pelvis, and her hip joints, plus her kidneys and liver.
It is her 80th birthday today. Her family is all going to the hospital to be with her on this special day. She does not want me to see her in her present debilitated condition and she asked me not to travel to Perth for her birthday.
Her immediate family (4 sisters and a brother) will be with her most of the day in her hospital room and the nurses have organized a birthday get-together with the nursing crew.
Her Specialist has told her that she can not go back to her home to live but will have to go into Hospice so she is organizing the sale of the house, her funeral service, and all of the many tasks that she is capable of undertaking.
She has been receiving Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy since July last year and she has been in and out of the hospital many times. She prefers to maintain her independence by living at home. The time has come that this is not possible or practical anymore.
Keith.

Enjoy the country and send Dot lots of pictures of your travels for the Forum.
