Have you thought about regasing it with butane? Those cheap gas cans for the stoves ....

DIY HVAC regas
Flush the system using nitrogen, replace the receiver dryer, get some HC gas compatible oil, fit another compressor and recharge the system using the throw away cans of butane used in the portable stoves.

That's a thought!
As you know Terry I had a Mercedes 1418 & ran 'all over' (Except Darwin) & never had an AC at all .......
Times have changed now days? Auto gearbox, diesel powered ancillary AC for sleeping etc....

OK, Just for fun & before Dot asks for an explanation .....

A few pics & a bit of a description of workings of 'this' AC compressor. (some are a bit diff)

First pic shows the bare input shaft of the compressor after removing the pulley & clutch via several circlips & the main centre nut.

Second one is the main drive shaft that has the wobble plate removed but shows the ball and the cog that keeps the plate below it 'in time'.

Third one shows the top of the wobble plate receiver. (bearing between)

Fourth one shows the main drive shaft/ball in the socket & cog meshed. It drives on about that angle.

Fifth one shows a longer shot of the wobble plate & the seven little pistons connected.

Sixth one shows the bearing that sits between the wobble plate (drive) & the wobble plate (receive that is connected to the pistons)

Seventh one shows where the damage has been going on. I never mentioned that the ball is blue from heat & lack of oil!

That is a big capacity compressor Bruce, how much for a new replacement? What area does it cool?

That damage is due to both lack of lubricant and a dead receiver drier because part of it's job is to mist lubricant through the liquid refrigerant and remove any water using the desiccant silica material, as well as act as an accumulator for the refrigerant to reduce compressor cycling .......

Do you understand how it works? Brilliant piece of engineering design

It's maybe not as big as it looks. (unless using a magnifying glass)
I have no idea of it's capacity/rate or ??
It only cools the relatively small cab of an Isuzu 7 tonne truck. Definately not capable of cooling your Wantabee or Winny.
It is a Sanden SD7H15 ...... CXS8115.
It has a 132mm pulley. Be interesting to know it's fly-apart max RPM?
If you were looking for a big capacity one I reckon look up one second hand off a Cat Grader or something. Not sure a Kenny with a Come-ins would be a lot bigger?
Oh ..... I see one on Ebay for $512 delivered so wouldn't break the bank. I have no idea how long it sat disconnected so obviously a filter/drier & proper cleanout of lines etc would be ideal.

155cc/rpm and spins continuous @ 6,000rpm, that's 34 cubic feet per min, that is heading into workshop air compressor volume, I guess it needs to compress the refrigerant gas quite a bit for it return to a liquid at ambient temp after passing through the condenser, never really thought about the volume a vehicle HVAC compressor pumps ....
