Not sure why the ship stopped here. It's nice enough, but nothing of special interest to my way of thinking.
You may have seen in the news not too long ago that they were inundated with massive floods. Can't imagine what it looks like now?
Wonder if any of these would have been floating around?
Or these. Note the sizes; 750ml [correction: 1.75litre] 3litres and 6litres!

Quite by accident, as sometimes happens, we found this old church. Nothing special inside, but I thought this ironwork was. And this multicoloured dome.

Wonder if this guy knew there was a stowaway on board. lol This guy must have bit a chinaman to be sentenced with hard labour carrying this rope. As seen so many times in Europe, this one was sentenced to live on a balcony.

One thing about Europe, they have cleaver ornaments. A fountain in the middle of town square. Came across this section of old Roman pavement adjacent to a government building. Nice to see them clinging to their roots.

Sorry for the end of year season delay.
Also, I struggle with ports that we spent much time in and/or photographed extensively. I've managed to whittle it down to 15 very random shots from almost 400. Not that the 400 would have been that interesting (in fact I wonder why I took some of them), but I had to choose and this is what you get. Please be understanding that; when you are in a place of interest that you may never return to, the logic is that you can always delete (which almost never happens), ones you don't really want.
We decided to ride the hop-on-hop-off tour bus. The red tour covered the south eastern half of the island, while the blue covered the north western section. Length of tour - three hours each for a total of SIX hours on the bus. I mean, what else are you going to do but shoot everything! Glad I used sun block.
Malta is old - see there are remnants of Roman aqueducts. The early inhabitants were not well grounded. They put two clocks in the church towers, one showing the correct time and the other an incorrect time in order to confuse the devil as to when their services would be held. We saw many building like this. I suppose that made sure the locals would attend every service, as non attendance might be thought devilish.
Maree loved the place with its Riviera resort appeal and lovely beaches that were often across the street from the hotel.

They said Malta was the most heavily bombed place in all of WWII because of its strategic location.
No doubt this old fort was used then as well as for many other battles much before WWII. I saw evidence of ground fighting (note the shelling) on more than one structure. St Paul's island where he was ship wrecked in AD 60. Acts 28.

Life style of the rich and boaties. Hard to believe, but most of the island is agricultural sometimes metres from modern structure. Wonder if they do valet parking?
