Re: Rego Cost.
We run the same system as Chuck:
Girt (m/h) in name of SWMBO
Jim (toad - a Jimny) in mine.
And the trailer only costs $40 to register in Vic, so it's in mine also - at full price.
Vic also offers Pensioner rates, but I think we get 50% rego and pay full price (or nearly) for CTP insurance. Works out at a shade over 50% of taxpayers' rego rate, from (dodgy) memory.
Interesting wrinkle: you can't pay via internet banking using recurring payments 12 months apart. Each year's payment must be a once-only transaction.
They didn't explain why in the email...

Hi, all.
If it's your only vehicle you should be OK. Just give the toad to your missus then divorce her and you'll be laughing. No joke, I met a couple in a fifth wheeler in Uralla - she was in her very late fifties, and each time they arrived in a new town she would apply for work. Oh, yes, fine - what's your address, dear? Oh, we're on the road permanently, why do you ask? And the dollars keep rolling in.

See you on the back roads,

Re: Rego Cost.
Got a reply to my email to the RMS, (RTA) here in NSW. Rego is free but still need to pay the stamp duty. Unfortunately the stamp duty is the greater but still happy. Still need to do the green slip of course on top.

Re: Rego Cost.
Be sure to get quotes for the Green Slip as they can vary significantly. I think GIO are the cheapest at the moment.

G'Day Dot,
On the rego front yes, free...... still got to pay stamp duty.
On the bus front, good days where it all goes to plan and we romp ahead. Next day turns to crap and we have to redo what we did the previous day. Generally good though. Still on track for June/July, hopefully.
