Re: Tassie Travels
Meeting up with one of the locals in the main street of Strahan:
A pic of the Botanical Creek. The water is coloured by the tannin leached from the forest floor. It is said you can take a cup of water, boil it and have a cup of tea. Actually, I just made that up.
And the Hogarth Fall, same river, note the instant tea being added to the water on the right side of the photo.

Re: Tassie Travels
True story a handful of years back, I spotted a shop selling curried scallop pies so made note of it as our return trip to Hobart would be around lunch.
Stopped at said shop went in bought two pies, one each.
Went out to car and proceeded to unwrap pie.
Old local dog came along and sat beside me with my door open, was a friendly bugga.
Bit into my pie, scallop went straight out the side of my mouth, old dog in one motion caught scallop and swallowed.
The bloody mongrel [see he is no longer my friend].
My very first pie and a dog got first taste.
Shut the door to eat the rest. And it was delicious.

Think yourself lucky that it wasn't a rotten prawn Bernie. They are deadly.

Queen of the Banal & OT chatter and proud of it. If it offends you then tough titty titty bang bang.

Spent another night at the Derwent Hotel car park. Delightful people there - ate there one night, drank there both nights. Travellers passing through each night.
Recommend this hotel as a stopover to anyone travelling is Tasmania. Visited "The Wall in the Wilderness" today - a "do not miss" if you're in Tasmania.

A couple of lucky photos today:
Horseshoe Falls above Russell Falls in the Mt Field National Park. A platypus just above Russell Falls - hard little critters to find - even harder to photograph!
