I reckon Craig has the best idea, bread is not hard to make, just do it in your gas oven.
Anyway race over have some scones & borrow Dots you'll soon see if it's for you or not.

Looks like the oven might be getting a work out before we depart, more experiments in the kitchen.
Craig, there is nothing the slightest bit warm down here at the mo

Re: Bread Maker?
We have two bread makers. One is a sunbeam, the other is Greg.
The sunbeam stays in the cupboard. Greg makes superb bread. I can recommend a Greg, anytime.

Re: Bread Maker?
I think the real winner with a bread maker is the timer function, put all the ingreient in the night before, set the timer so you wake up to the smell of fresh baked bread, another timer to start the percolator running so the coffee is ready at the same time.... Glamping at it's best
or Gloating in an Li powered housebout

Re: Bread Maker?
Thank you all for the wonderful info!!
I'm not usually one to borrow items unless they are 'idiot proof'.
Learned my lesson years ago after having to replace broken, borrowed items.
We'll probably go for one of the 'better' ones rather than find out a cheap one is ......... well cheap!!
Not sure what colour white bread will be using reject swamp water from Qld!! (River Murray water)
Suspect Carp poop will ad flavour though??

You could make brown bread high in mineral nutrients with the Murray water, it certainly has added bodyBruceS wrote:Thank you all for the wonderful info!!

Re: Bread Maker?
I borrowed a car once & a truck going the other way on a bend chucked half a brick thru the windscreen it must of been stuck between the dual wheels, Needless to say I have never borrowed a vehicle again other than family cars.

Oh Dear Shirley!!!
Do you think Wendy might throw a brick at it if the bread won't rise?
I once saw what she did when I peeked at a sponge & it collapsed......... not a pretty site!!
Would have made good lamingtons for Shonky??

Re: Bread Maker?
Reviving and old post here.... Want to make small loaves rather than a big loaf as its only going to go to waste, (half sized loaf would be ideal like you sued to get in the old days). Can't stand the mass produced breads at the best of times and not interested in the frozen stale stuff either. I know I am fussy and the bride has called me even worse.... So would like to hear more about the oven baked bread before I run it past you know who and have her tell me, "make it yourself then". Not something that a bloke who is kitchen challenged wants to hear. Any tips/ideas appreciated.
