We did the Cataract Gorge on Friday. We had done the walk alongside the river previously and, as it happened, the track was closed for maintenance on Friday, however, we did the chair lift and a look around.

Tho photo of the peacock (a few posts ago) was taken in the Gorge car park. A couple of them were harassing a family who were trying to eat their lunch.

Travelled up and down each side of the Tamar Valley today. Couple of wineries, Beaconsfield, Beauty Point and George Town. Visited the Seahorse Aquarium and photographed this little guy.

Now it turns out that the males carry and give birth to the babies.
Clearly, given that these little creatures are early forms of life as we know it, the concept of males giving birth was identified as a bad idea and quickly abandoned. :D

Stopped in at Deloraine today and called in at the Visitor Information Centre - something we often do. Most surprised to find that they have museum of sorts attached to the Centre - quite interesting in its own right - but discovered a most stunning display that is right up there with all of the things that you should not miss in your travels.

In a theatrette are four quilt panels approximately 5 metres x 4 metres in size and of the most intricate construction involving embroidery, cross stitch, weaving, quilting, applique and more. They were done over a three year period by three hundred volunteer women under the direction of some local artisans. Very hard to photograph because they are dimly lit with low wattage lights to preserve their colour, but you will get the idea.

A couple of close ups to give a better idea.
