Sure did have problems going from 7 to 10, the computer fellow worked here for 2 1/2 hrs, then suggested he take it home & repair same at leisure or it would cost us a fortune, so he managed to get all our photos onto a disc & we wait to see his outcome. I couldn't get anything but that Windows 10 had downloaded with errors it just kept going around in a circle & coming back to the same thing.

Shirley, that sounds terrible. hope you get it fixed with very little costs to you. :o
I had the experience of the win 10 thing uploading too my laptop and it cost me $50 for extra downloads,.... not happy. I refused to open it, therefore it is just sitting below the surface. I will stick with my win 7 on both laptop and desktop. I am also a dinosaur and am happiest to use internet explorer for the internet stuff ups too.

For them that have Win 10 and the sweetheart time of 1 month hasn't passed you can just do a "system Restore" at the date of the Win 10 load. This will restore Win 7 as it was before the Win10 fiasco.

For them that have Win10 and want to tweak it the website I use is winaero.com .

This site advises the hidden stuff Microsoft do not want you to be doing to their systems.

The desk top I'm currently ising has Win7 but my laptop has an unadulterated Win10 and the traveling laptop ( Defence force specs tablet / laptop )
has the modified Win10 running
The reason I have the 3 systems running is so I can honestly evaluate the differences between the stages of going bald.
So far the tweaked Win 10 wins, but only just . The best tweak is to stop auto updates, it's surprising just how many run in the background chewing up your data allowances.

Ron
BTW :- M'soft is about to release the first update to Win 10 in a few weeks
It will be interesting to see how much control they want to grab of your systems then ( the current version has a keylogger built into it - talk about spying ! )

I will second Burnie . Windows 8 is the worst I have ever used I would love to have XP back. You would think that some Einstein employed by Microsoft would realise what basic users want/need in an operating system they could have very happy customers instead of the current situation where so many of us struggle to get basic things done that we could on our old systems. Not everyone wants to study for a double Phd in computing to be able to use their systems. Every new version they bring out is worse than the preceding versions.

We have our laptop back with Windows 10 & we didn't loose anything, apparently our wi-fi modem was not compatible with Windows 10 & caused the problem with the download.

If you have Windows 10 and don't want your data eaten up you can change now your settings.

Under settings, Network & Inernet, Wi-Fi, Advanced options. Set as metered connection - change to ON. I haven't had any notifications of updates since I turned this on.

I quite like Windows 10, didn't mind 8 either, but I hated Windows 7. I have a laptop with W7 on that I would gladly use as a boat anchor! We still run XP on the desktop dinosaur, but that has trouble connecting to some websites.
