Alice Springs Showgrounds

No problems staying at Alice showgrounds (Blatherskite Park) which are on the outskirts of town. We stayed there last July, just for a night. Arrived in Alice to find all the parks fully booked due to some event being on, but the showgrounds had heaps of room. They cover a large amount of land and they were happy to use as much of it as required. Whether this was an 'overflow' arrangement because other parks were full I'm not sure. If it was it was never mentioned either by showground staff or other parks we phoned. IIRC it was $25 pvpn.

The best spots are around the 'oval' /show ring if you can get a spot there - very pleasant outlook & closest to the ablutions block (great hot showers).

Secure facility gates 6;30pm-6;30am, security patrolled. $35 poweredd site, $25 unpowered keys available fot after hours access. bush kitchen, pedt friendly and several dump points.

George I read it as gates being open through the day but access through the night, probably by key fob like a car roller door?

I think when we were there it was the same . But as we didn't have a need to be outside thru those times it didn't effect us .
BUT not hundred percent on that , Carol doesn't remember neither .
